A Letter From 2020

Hey,

2021... Based on how 2020 panned out, we think it is best if we establish sound ground rules for 2021. The first rule of thumb: GRATITUDE. We experienced so much uncertainty, hardship, “change” both positive and negative, we experienced lapses mentally and physically. The overall theme of 2020 felt heavy to say the least. That is exactly why we need more gratitude going forward, life walked you down some unfamiliar territory and it was not ideal, however you somehow managed to weather the storm and you are here in 2021 — ready for whatever learning curve life is going to grant you. Do you know why you are ready? Because you have witnessed in your own life that no matter how high or how low you may feel, or life may seem... Change will happen. We experienced change politically, socially, mentally, spiritually, financially & physically—all wrapped in one. You are overly prepared to execute on your life in 2021...

Which brings me to the next rule of thumb: EXECUTION. Proper preparation prevents poor performance, you already have what you need. Mentally you have what it takes (right now), to reach a new plateau. The reason you have yet to see the results is because you are not executing in your fullest capacity. Remember it’s in you, not on you—your status, image, reputation or whatever you may be in search of does not happen from external sources. It comes from within, life does not owe you anything, not a favor nor a dollar. In 2021, practice executing from within first, before exercising exterior demands. The only thing life is going to truly provide is an opportunity, life is going to give you a chance to either make your dreams or break your dreams. That option is solely based on how you perform when nobody is looking and when everybody is watching.

My last rule of thumb, the most important one: PERSPECTIVE. Perspective is a complex dynamic, you see one thing, but it may mean another or “everything that glitters isn’t gold.” We have heard it since we were children but the older, we have gotten the more we grow away from understanding that. We add unnecessary pressure to ourselves because we put a microscope on someone’s life achievements. We see people in our age range have things and feel entitled those same things. Everyone’s cards are dealt differently, that is the unique thing about life. There are 8 plus billion people on this earth and none of them were meant to be like one another. In 2021 I challenge you to focus on your vision more than you did in 2020, of course it is not easy—will not tell you it is. What I will tell you is that, that same energy you spend looking at what someone else is doing can be spent improving what you are doing. We no longer want to bite off more than we can chew, instead we want to gradually get full. Bite for bite, step for step. We must understand that no matter the pace of the race, we will all land in the same destination one day. Take your time on your life, it is not promised. The last thing you want to do is spend a lifetime looking through everyone else’s scope except your own, there is no justice in that. There is no peace in that. Perspective is to be created and controlled solely by you, take control of your reality—be the change you want to see for others and yourself.

To conclude: Gratitude, Execution & Perspective are three of the more important things of 2021. Along with some others, take care of your health especially mentally, anxiety and depression were at an all-time high in 2020. Those are sensitive areas not everyone is capable of enduring and progressing the same—be mindful and courteous to others in those regards. Take care of yourself physically, strong body—strong mind. Keeping in mind your physical abilities do not have to succeed the societal norm, take care of you because that is what is good for you—do not worry about how it looks to them. There is no right or wrong time to act on your life, we have all made mistakes, we may have regrets, there are things we wish we would have done better. That comes with the territory of living life, we are human be gentle in your approach to thyself. Thomas Edison is not the first man to invent the lightbulb, he was just the most successful and the one we recognize in history. Those other seven gentlemen that tried and failed did not become stagnant because someone else did it better, they became inspired because someone mastered it. Be motivated and stay inspired.

Lastly, in 2021, display more gratitude for the things in our life you already execute and the things you want to execute. Do not be afraid of change, change is good for everybody. Anything you want for yourself or others can be acquired... depending on your perspective. Show up in 2021 in full, no better time than the present & if you have the opportunity to do something amazing bring somebody with you.

Love,

Just Wait On It… ⏳
